We're hiring for the new Enhanced Treatment Program at Atascadero

Visiting Center Photographs

DSH-Patton will begin allowing patients to take photographs with their loved ones in the Visiting Center beginning on January 8, 2020.
Photos will be taken ONLY on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

A summary of the guidelines are provided below for your convenience:

Annually, patients must provide a signed copy of form PSH-5650 “Consent for Photographs or Filming” to the designated staff photographer.  A new copy must be provided upon annual renewal.
Upon exiting the visiting center, the photo(s) will be given to the visitor(s) to take with them. (Photographs are limited to 1 photo per visitor.)
Only one patient is allowed to be photographed at a time and gang signs/gestures or inappropriate body language will not be permitted.
Photos will cost $2.00 per print and can be purchased using the cash visitors are allotted to bring into the Visiting Center ($15 per person).
One visitor for each patient requesting photos will sign up upon entering the Visiting Center.  Photos will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum of 25 patient photographs per day.

This photo service is subject to change or cancellation at any time due to safety or security concerns.
Photo service will not be provided on State Holidays.

Canteen Announcement

Influenza Announcement

In an effort to protect our patients from the spread of Influenza Virus, effective November 01, 2018, Department of State Hospitals is requiring all visitors to follow guidelines regarding flu vaccination and patient contact. During the flu season, generally November through April, the following rules apply:

  1. All visitors, entering DSH-Patton’s Secured Treatment Area, including the Visiting Center, are required to do one of the following:
    • Show proof of recent Influenza Vaccination, or
    • Wear a protective mask upon entering the Secured Treatment Area or Visiting Center
  2. Visitors shall not remove masks at anytime during the visit, including for food and beverage consumption.
  3. Children visiting patients must also comply as follows:
    • Under 6 months of age: Parent must show proof that the mother was vaccinated
    • Over 6 months of age: Parent must show proof of child’s individual vaccination

Should flu season be extended by the county Public Health Department, these rules will be in effect throughout the flu season as determined by the county.

All new visitors are encouraged to submit proof of flu vaccination with their initial visiting application.
